Streaky Bay

After our wonderfully fun day in the sun yesterday we just couldn’t bear to leave.  So we stayed.  After all, it was to be our last real day of our holiday, the upcoming three days being long travel days in the car stopping only to refuel, eat, wee and sleep.

We enjoyed a lazy cooked breakfast on the beach, and the kids ran amok in the sand dunes with their mates.  Later on the low tide, the boys all went out razor fishing, having fun and bringing back a seafood entrée for tonight’s dinner.

In the afternoon we headed into the sleepy little village of Streaky Bay.  We wandered through the small town, stocked up on supplies and walked out onto the jetty, where the kids did their final jetty jumping.

We dined at the beautifully situated Moceans Café, overlooking the Bay.  Fortunately the gorgeous weather and the sparkling view made up for the grumpy staff.  Jack was traumatised by the size (or lack of size) of his meal, but the seafood pizza I ordered surpassed the Coober Pedy pizza as the best pizza I've eaten all over Oz.

Back at Perlubie Beach the locals had completed their amazing transformation of the Sports Day site back to its natural beach state.

The PA, bar, trestles, chairs, toilets, decorations, sports apparel, rubbish bins and all items associated with the event had been packed up, placed on the back of utes and taken away.  No doubt stored somewhere in readiness for next year’s event.
The remainder of our last lazy day was spent in the best possible way.
