Darwin - the City and the Markets

On the Darwin tourist route today.  Our first stop was Aquascene - for some hand feeding of local, friendly wild fish.  Hundreds of fish visit the shallows of  Doctor's Gully each high tide, and have been doing so for more than 50 years!  We hand fed the catfish, diamond scaled mullet and milkfish, and saw some awesome barramundi, groper and stingrays!

Then it was off to the Greek Festival on the Esplanade.  We didn't get to see any plates being smashed but I think the boys have a new appreciation for Greek food!

After lunch we wandered through the mall - a walk never to be forgotten with Jarrah coming inches from being squished under a truck! Thankfully we did all end up safely at the Darwin waterfront for a swim in the lagoon and a Dirty Granny cider.

Late in the afternoon we were off to the Mindil Beach Markets for some whip cracking...

Circus skills..

More yummy food...

And a beautiful sunset!
Happy Days!

Well, we did have to share the beach with one or two other, but hey, it's tourist season!

The weirdest bit was when the sun went down, everybody applauded!
