Lake Argyle

We hadn't planned to come to Lake Argyle, but a few fellow travellers had mentioned it, and I am sure glad we came in for a look.  This place must be Australia's best kept secret!

The lake itself is breath taking, and the statistics on the dam and its contents are mind boggling!  In addition, the people here are wonderful and the caravan park has been voted the best in Australia!

Could have something to do with the infinity pool...

When we could drag ourselves away from the pool there was 'happy hour at the bar, live music in the beer garden and free outdoor Aussie family movies.

We went on the best sunset cruise ever!  We headed off on the bus, mid afternoon, with some very informative commentary from tour guide, Bob.  Then it was off on the Kimberley Durack to explore Lake Argyle.  The kids drove the boat, fed the fish and spotted crocs and other wildlife.  Lake Argyle has the most healthy fresh water crocs in Australia, incidentally, with some of them growing over 4 metres long!

Then at sunset, we all got thrown off the back of the boat, noodle in hand, to bob around in the lovely warm 26 degree water.  Along with 30 000 fresh water crocs!  The kids got to do bombies off the roof of the boat and we were joined in the water by a floating bar and we kept the staff busy throwing out beer and wine!  Ahhh this is the life!

Thank you Jack & Josh and Lake Argyle Tours!

When it came time to leave, we just couldn't.  A few more days, a few more Matso's mango ciders and a bit more fun in the pool....

Bruce got a bit of work doing massages, and we almost didn't leave...but reluctantly we said goodbye and hit the road once more.
